District 141 praises return of united airlines jobs to u.s.
165 customer service jobs come home
Working with the IAM’s Laura Stone, United Airlines now believes it can provide “the right level of focus” by filling 165 Customer Relations positions in Chicago and Hawaii with qualified IAM Reservations Representatives. Those jobs had previously been outsourced to India.
RSSR’s mainly handle reservations calls today. Starting in April they will handle both reservations and customer relations work.
“We are proud and pleased the IAM and United were able to work together to bring jobs back to the United States and provide increased opportunities for our reservations Members,” said IAM District 141 President Rich Delaney.
“The collective work we did with the IAM was instrumental to bringing these jobs back to the U.S., and we thank them for their support,” added Barbara Higgins, a UAL corporation vice president.
Stone is an IAM District 141 AGC (Assistant General Chair) with more than twenty five years of service in United Reservations, and she is a permanent member of the Negotiating Team seeking a new contract for all IAM-represented Members at United.
